Handling Interrupted or Incomplete Agent Interviews
A small percentage of agent-delivered interviews aren't completed by the candidate. Most interruptions stem from candidate-side issues — an unstable connection, an incoming call, or the candidate manually stopping the interview. In rare cases, Crosschq's interview agent may drop the connection for technical reasons.
When an interview is interrupted, Crosschq automatically tries to re-engage the candidate — no recruiter action needed — so they can complete it. What happens next depends on how much of the interview was finished:
- All graded questions answered: The interview is marked Completed, and the report generates normally.
- Graded questions remaining: The interview moves to Awaiting Retake. The candidate gets an automatic email inviting them to finish, plus reminders based on your settings.
Recruiters can find interrupted interviews under the Awaiting Retake status on the Interview Management screen, including the interruption reason and retake history for each record.
Note: A high number of retakes for one candidate may signal misuse of this feature and warrants review.
Interrupted Interviews & Awaiting Retake
When an interview is interrupted before completion, Crosschq handles it automatically based on how much the candidate completed:
- If the candidate answered all graded questions before the interruption, the interview is marked as Completed and the report is generated normally.
- If the candidate had not yet answered all graded questions, the interview moves to Awaiting Retake status. The candidate receives an automatic email inviting them to return and complete the interview.
Recruiters can view the interruption reason and retake history directly in the interview record. A high number of retakes for a single candidate may indicate that the candidate is taking advantage of this functionality and should be reviewed.
Note: This flow applies only to interviews interrupted before all graded questions were completed. It is separate from the customer-configured retake setting available for completed interviews.
